WIP of an old drawing i’m finally finishing wahoo

WIP of an old drawing i’m finally finishing wahoo

art cards i did around christmas that never ended up getting sent out to their recipients oops

the first was for moblit-bahner and the second was for humanitystallest and were quasi-RP related (at least the latter one)

sorry these never got to you guys!

pardon the shitty cellphone photo, but i wanted to share a WIP of a remake alongside its original (with explanation!)
i originally did this print of etna back in ‘05ish and it was one of my best sellers when i was in the con scene until one fateful otakon when i accidentally left it at a kinko’s after getting prints made from it. i realized the mistake too late and the last copy i had of it had already been signed, so i had to revoke the sale and make prints from that copy. slowly, over time, the prints degraded in quality until i could no longer print and sell them and, having lost the original, i had to take the piece out of my sales book. the print shown was one of the mis-prints of it that i found yesterday and not the quality i had been selling (the prints were complete, not cut-off).
i still like the art, but wanted to see how different a re-draw would be. as it turns out, quite different! i ghosted the pose onto new paper and then did a pseudo redline on it to make the limbs more realistic and interesting. i also fixed some of the issues i had with the outfit itself.
overall, i’m surprised and satisfied with the difference almost a decade can make, even on something i considered to be still sellable in its previous incarnation.
stay tuned for the finished redraw!
